The novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is divided into three parts of equal length and 27 chapters

The first part, called “The Tributes”, shows Katniss’s journey from the reaping day in District 12 to Peeta’s public love confession on the day before the start of the Games. The second part, called “The Games” follows Katniss’s time alone in the Games up to the announcement that two tributes from the same district can be declared winners. The last part is named “The Victor”. In this way, the three parts of the book are structured around the Hunger Games event, dividing Katniss’s journey into three distinct periods: before, during, and after the Hunger Games.
