Peeta Mellark

Outer characterization

Peeta Mellark is the male tribute from District 12 in the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. He is sixteen years old and one of the sons of the baker in District 12.

Peeta is described as being of “medium height, stocky build, [with] ashy blond hair that falls in waves over his forehead” (Chapter 2, 40%) and blue eyes. He is physically strong, being able to lift 50 kg. bags of flour.

Peeta is kind, selfless, and honest

Katniss and Peeta’s first meeting as eleven-year-olds is marked by Peeta’s display of kindness. He sees Katniss is starving and comes up with a smart plan to give her food despite his mother’s wishes (Chapter 2, 80%).
