Outer characterization

Gale is Katniss’ closest friend and hunting partner in the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. He is eighteen and lives in the Seam, the poor part of District 12 with his family. His father was killed in the same mining accident where Katniss’s father died, and ever since then he became responsible for his family’s survival. He is the oldest child and has three younger siblings.

He is described as having “straight black hair, olive skin, (…) grey eyes” (Chapter 1, 29%) and being very good-looking. He is tall, “lean and hard-muscled” (Chapter 3, 38%), and smells of wood smoke.
