Summary

The short film “I Don’t Make the Rules” by Law Chen tells the story of Stephen Noa, a former professional football player who is struggling to find employment.

The short film presents Stephen distributing flyers in the street, but he is ignored by the crowd. He receives a call informing him that his job interview has been cancelled. Stephen takes the metro to a gym where he cleans up, showing that he has several part-time jobs. He later receives another similar call.

Stephen then goes to his job as a bouncer at a nightclub. Three drunk men try to get into the nightclub, but Stephen cannot let them in because one of the men is wearing sweatpants which do not fit the club’s dress code.
