Narrator and point of view
The short story “Champagne Flight” by Jill Norris is told from the point of view of a first-person narrator who is also the main character.
The narrator describes in detail what she is thinking and feeling, drawing readers’ attention to her enthusiasm during the flight: “Imagine being offered wine! I knew I shouldn’t have done it, but then who was to know?... and one small glass of wine wouldn’t hurt. I sat there feeling pleased with myself” (p. 15, ll. 17-19). The narrator’s thoughts highlight her immaturity and point to her lack of experience.
