The snake

In the novella The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the little prince meets the snake right after he lands on Earth. The snake is as thin as a finger, and the little prince initially perceives him as a "funny animal" (62%).

The snake politely explains to the little prince about the loneliness in Africa's desert and the loneliness of humans. He listens to the little prince, unlike the people the little prince has met before. He answers his questions wisely and understandingly. He seems surprised when the little prince tells him about his planet and about his flower. He is a clever and serious conversation partner.
