Holocaust literature

The novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne can be considered an example of literature about the Holocaust. Nazism and the Holocaust, one of the darkest chapters in German history, gave rise to this new genre of literature with numerous different types of texts. In addition to authentic reports, diaries, and biographies, there are also poems, novels, essays, and stories that deal with the atrocities committed in the concentration camps. The term "Holocaust literature" originated in the English-speaking world and has gradually become established worldwide.
