With her article “The Truth About Being an Influencer”, Alyssa Bossio intends to raise awareness about what it means to be a successful influencer. Bossio also contradicts many false beliefs people sometimes have concerning the life of social-media influencers. For example, Bossio claims that most of her followers mistakenly believe that she lives a very glamorous lifestyle: “Most people looking at my Instagram assume I make thousands of dollars a day, can travel wherever I want, and work with any brands I want to work with.” (ll. 12-13).
