Doctor Watson

Doctor Watson is a character in the story “A Scandal in Bohemia” by Arthur Conan Doyle. He is Sherlock Holmes’ long-time friend and companion. He has previously lived at Baker Street until his marriage. After marriage, he has resumed his practice as a doctor. 

By his own admission, Watson is not as good at reasoning as Holmes: 

‘When I hear you give your reasons’, I remarked, ‘the thing always appears to me to be so ridiculously simple that I could easily do it myself, though at each successive instance of your reasoning I am baffled until you explain your process. And yet I believe that my eyes are as good as yours.’
