The King of Bohemia

The King of Bohemia is a character in the story “A Scandal in Bohemia” by Arthur Conan Doyle. When he visits Holmes to request his help on the case, he is richly dressed, giving an impression of “barbaric opulence”. He wears a mask to hide his identity, but his features betray him as a “man of strong character, with a thick, hanging lip, and a long, straight chin suggestive of resolution pushed to the length of obstinacy.” He speaks English with a strong German accent.

The King is a man of royal birth for whom reputation is very important. He spares no expense in resolving the scandal of the photograph, which he believes would ruin his life.
