Characterization of Irene Adler

...

Irene realizes quickly that Sherlock Holmes tricked her into revealing the location of the photograph after the cry of fire, and decides to take matters into her own hands. She disguises herself and follows Holmes in order to make sure of his identity and intentions. This shows she is a quick thinker and resourceful. It also shows that she is as skilled at disguise and deception as Holmes, and also matches him in intelligence.
