Reception and criticism

The film The Riot Club (2014) directed by Lone Scherfig was generally well-received by both critics and audiences. The film received generally positive reviews for the compelling performances of Max Irons as Miles Richards and Sam Claflin as Alistair Ryle. The story directed by Scherfig draws visceral reactions from the public, who feel disgusted and intrigued by the characters that Irons and Claflin portray. 

Lone Scherfig, the director, has been praised for her raw portrayal of the high society and the current British class system, which focuses on class and status division. The film sparked discussions about the reality of the British class system and whether or not it exaggerates its portrayal. 

The film received a nomination at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival for Best Narrative Feature, a nomination at the Toronto Film Festival, and another nomination at the British Screenwriters’ Awards.
