Miles and Lauren

The relationship between Miles and Lauren is one of the most important in the film The Riot Club (2014) directed by Lone Scherfig. The chemistry between the two is obvious from the first time they meet in the dining hall. As they continue their discussion on the rooftop, the two learn more about each other and eventually agree not to get together, because they do not want to spend the following years avoiding each other because of a failed relationship in case they break up.

However, the attraction between Miles and Lauren is more powerful and they eventually engage in a relationship. While they are kind and loving with each other, their relationship is mocked by the other members of the Riot Club, who believe in the motto “girls for now, girls for later”. Wanting fit in with the other boys, Miles also uses the motto. When he is accepted in the Riot Club, Miles dismisses Lauren’s worries about it and even claims that she might be jealous because she is not a member. 

The relationship between Miles and Lauren ends during the club’s celebratory dinner, when Alistair secretly texts Lauren and asks her to come to the pub. When Dimitri offers to pay her entire tuit...
