Time period

The film The Riot Club (2014) directed by Lone Scherfig begins with a flashback to the 1700s, where the history of the Riot Club is explained. This part informs the audience about the legacy of the club and its members. 

The setting then switches to modern times and follows Miles and Alistair, the two main characters, during their first days as students at Oxford University. The events spread over a few days, from the moment the main characters meet to the aftermath of the Riot Club’s violent celebratory dinner.
