When looking at the relevance of Malala Yousafzai’s Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech today, you should also look at the events that followed, and at how the issues mentioned in the speech have evolved.

After her speech, Malala Yousafzai has continued her efforts to secure equal access to education for all children - especially girls facing gender discrimination in this regard. In 2015, through her organization – the Malala Fund – Yousafzai opened the “Malala Yousafzai All-Girls School” in Lebanon, near the Syrian border. The school aims to give more than 200 Syrian refugee girls academic and life skills training which will allow them to earn their own incomes in the future.
