Audience

Malala Yousafzai’s Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech was delivered during a ceremony held at the Oslo City Hall in Norway on the 10th of December, 2014. The video recording of the speech shows the people present at the award ceremony applauding during the speech, suggesting that Yousafzai's ideas were supported by the audience.

At the beginning of the speech, Yousafzai addresses a select group of the audience: “Your Majesties, Your Royal Highnesses, distinguished members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee” (p. 481, ll. 3-4). Here, the speaker most likely addresses the members of the Norwegian royal family, and perhaps members of royal families from other countries, as well as those who have chosen her for the award. She then thanks her supporters, her teachers, and especially thanks her parents:
