When you analyse Meghan Markle’s article “I’m More Than An ‘Other’” article, you should also consider those statements that are particularly interesting or controversial.

For example, Markle suggests that, in creating an identity beyond your heritage, it is important to surround oneself with people who do not define others through their ethnicity: “You cultivate your life with people who don’t lead with ethnic descriptions such as, ‘that black guy Tom’ ” (ll. 269-271). However, Markle does not give an explicit explanation of why this is important. It could, therefore, be interesting to discuss how others influence the way we perceive and define ourselves. A common approach to this is to consider how our environment shapes us in our childhood.
