Main receiver and target audience

The main receiver of Diane Ridgway-Cross’ TED talk “Conscious Consumerism” was formed by the live audience attending the speech in May 2015.

Typically, those who attend TED talks are other influencers, people who work in the media, or people who are interested in the same topic or active in the same industry. Since Ridgway-Cross’ presentation is about consumer power, we can assume that part of the audience could have been marketing experts, for example, or interested in leading more sustainable lives.

Images from the audience reveal that mostly women attended the talk and that they were receptive to Ridgway-Cross’ arguments, laughing at her jokes and applauding some of her points.

Given that the speech is also available online, this implies that it is accessible for the wider, global English-speaking audience interested in the topic.
