Reaction to important issues 

The theme of the short story “Chicken Little Goes Too Far” by Margaret Atwood is how people react to current issues which might impact their lives in a negative way.

Throughout the story, Chicken Little does not understand why the others are not alarmed by the fact that the sky is falling. Henny Penny waves it off as another false alarm (ll. 12-13). Turkey Lurkey tries to convince him there is nothing they can do and that they are not responsible. Goosey Loosey assures Chicken Little that the experts are working to solve the issue and “they’ll have a fix very soon” (l. 38), while also dismissing it as unimportant news.
