Narrator and point of view

The narrator of the story “Nobody’s story” by Charles Dickens is a 3rd person omniscient narrator. The narrator offers the readers insight into the thoughts and feelings of different characters and has knowledge of future events that are happening long after Nobody is death. 

The narrator presents Nobody’s thoughts and feelings in detail, which highlights the social injustices that he faces: 

Meanwhile, this man, in his short evening snatches at his fireside, saw the demon Ignorance arise there, and take his children to itself. […] he saw the dawning light of intelligence in the eyes of his babies so changing into cunning and suspicion, that he could have rather wished them idiots. (p.5 ll.26-32, p.6 ll. 1-2)

This shows that Nobody sees his children ...
