The Bigwig family

The Bigwig family is a large upper-class family whom Nobody pays so they will take care of his life. 

The Bigwig family are loud and opinionated. They are described as people who “wrote pamphlets, held convocations, delivered charges, orations, and all varieties of discourses; impounded one another in courts Lay and courts Ecclesiastical; threw dirt, exchanged pummelings, and fell together by the ears in unintelligible animosity” (p. 5 ll. 22-26). When Nobody challenges them and asks for them to act, the Bigwigs resort to debating and arguing, while remaining passive and ignoring Nobody’s request. This shows that they do not care about helping the people who pay them and depend on them.
