In your discussion on Donald Trump's Super Tuesday victory speech, we encourage you to look at examples of interesting or controversial statements or claims.

We especially think the contradictory statements that Donald Trump makes are worth analyzing. For example, in the beginning of the speech, he mentions that Marco Rubio “worked hard” (l. 30), but later in the speech he becomes more offensive, calling Rubio a “loser” (l. 247) and suggesting he is a complete failure as a politician.

In the same way, he talks about China and Mexico in contradictory terms, both praising and offending the countries and their leaders: “China is just taking advantage of us. I have nothing against China. I have great respect for China, but their leaders are too smart for our leaders.” (ll. 61-63); “...I watched the ex-president of Mexico, the arrogance of this man. (...) The Mexican leaders are too smart for our leaders and you saw it.” (ll. 352-360). Such statements can affect diplomatic relations with those countries in a negative way and promote negative feelings towards their population. You should also consider that Trump’s campaign was partly built on anti-immigration rhetoric.
