Analysis
Our analysis of Franz Kafka’s novel The Trial provides you with a comprehensive view of the work. First, we consider the structure of the work. This does not only deal with the fragmentary form of the novel, but also withthe circular structures operating on different levels, the alternation between activity and passivity in K.'s reactions, and the setting of the events. In addition, detailed textual examples help analyze the language that Kafka used.
We then discuss the complexity of the narrative perspective in the novel. Finally, we focus on the parable of the gatekeeper, which is vital for understanding the text. Here, we trace what happens in the conversation between K. and the prison chaplain and, in a further step, attempt to offer our own interpretation.
