Structure

The short story “The Destructors” by Graham Greene has a chronological plot structure. It is split into four numbered parts. The first one describes the gang and the newest recruit, Trevor, the gang’s meeting with Mr. Thomas and presents Trevor’s plan to demolish the man’s house. The second part shows the first day of destruction and Trevor and Blackie burning Mr. Thomas’ savings at the end of the day. The third part follows the second day of destruction and the gang’s reaction when faced with Mr. Thomas’ early return. The last part shows the boys bringing food and a blanket to Mr. Thomas while they finish demolishing the house.
