Trevor

Outer characterization

Trevor is a main character in the short story “The Destructors” by Graham Greene. He is the newest recruit of the Wormsley Common gang, having just joined at the beginning of the summer holidays. He is 15 years old and the only mention of his appearance is that his eyes are gray.

His family comes from an upper-middle-class background but they fell to a lower social status. His father used to be an architect but is now an office clerk. His mother considers herself better than her neighbors. His family’s background is considered a reason for mockery by the gang, however, it is stated that there is “an odd quality of danger, of the unpredictable” about Trevor, which allowed him to join the gang despite this.
