Literary perspective
“The Aliens” by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala has features that place it in the category of modernist fiction. The story is written in a traditional way, with a third-person limited narrator telling the story through the perspective of Peggy, the main character. The events – which take place over the course of a day – are presented chronologically, with the help of language that creates an authentic atmosphere. Modernist writers also tend to focus on themes related to contemporary issues. "The Aliens" focuses mostly on issues such as cultural differences, and the difficulty of finding your place in an unfamiliar culture.
