Our analysis of the article “Robbie Williams: ‘My main talent is turning trauma into something showbizzy’ ” by Alexis Petridis is inspired by the rhetorical pentagram model.

In what follows, we will look at the topics of the article – Robbie Williams’ struggle with addiction and self-doubt, his relationship with his family, and his experience in show business.  

We will present the writer and his position on the topics of the article, as well as the way he relates to his target audience. We will also describe Robbie Williams in this section, as he is the focus of the interview and his words feature prominently as well. 

We will also examine the reader – the potential readers of the text and the writer’s target audience. 

We will analyse how the writer uses language tools to achieve his intention. We will look at the choice of words,  the writer’s tone, and at how the writer appeals to the audience’s trust and reason.

We will discuss the circumstances of the article, looking at Robbie Williams’ life and at the circumstances at the time when the interview was made.

Lastly, we will consider the writers’ intention to convey Robbie Williams’ thoughts on himself and his relationship with show business and connect it with the language tools he uses, the circumstances, and the topics of the article.
