When you analyse Alexis Petridis’ article “Robbie Williams: ‘My main talent is turning trauma into something showbizzy’ ”, you should also discuss interesting or controversial ideas and statements.
At the beginning of the article, Williams talks about his struggle with addiction and mentions having an addictive personality (l. 20). His words suggest that he has accepted this about himself and only hopes that he will not develop addictions which are too dangerous (ll. 67-72).
The idea of the addictive personality is controversial in the scientific field, and it has been a subject of debate for many years.
There are many variations of the argument – some people believe certain personality traits can predict that a person will develop addictions in their life and that knowing these traits brings more awareness and caution when it comes to addiction. Others believe people with certain brain chemistry are prone to addiction, and therefore, they are not affected by their personality, but by the way their brain reacts to certain stimuli.
