Summary

“Logjam” by Ron Wallace starts with Peterson, Christine, and their daughter Phoebe. They are on a camping holiday in Canada, while the couple's other daughter Jennifer remains at home in the US with her grandmother.

Just before they pitch their tent, it starts to rain and there are mosquitos everywhere. As he gets back into the car at his wife’s request, Peterson thinks about the fact that Christine planned the whole trip the way she wanted, as she has done with most of their holidays.

Inside the car, Peterson asks about the mosquito repellent and Christine answers in a way that suggests she is irritated. Peterson knows that Christine is aware that he does not want to camp, and for this reason they begin smiling at each other and talking kindly,...
