Analysis

If you want to get a glimpse of our analysis of the short story, you can read this short presentation of the main elements we will discuss in the next pages.

The plot revolves around the conflict of a married couple, Peterson and Christine, who have different personalities, a conflict that ends up affecting their daughter Phoebe.

Peterson and Christine are the most important characters. Phoebe is mostly relevant for showing how tensions and conflicts between parents affect children negatively and put them in the middle of unwanted arguments.

The parents’ relationship is symbolically described by the title, “Logjam”. They are in a situation that seems impossible to resolve because they have failed to find a way to reconcile their different personalities and perspectives in a way that satisfies them both.

Moreover, we will also focus on other analytical elements, such as point of view, setting, conflict, and main theme.
