Your exam question asks you to discuss whether greater awareness can end racial bias. In her TED talk “How racial bias works – and how to disrupt it”, Jennifer L. Eberhardt argues that if people are aware of what racial bias is and they are prompted to evaluate their initial judgements, they can reduce their racial bias. 

In her talk, Eberhardt presents the concept of adding “friction” (l. 52). She argues that if people have time to slow down and reconsider their judgment, they can reduce the number of instances where they act according to racial biases. This will enable people to become aware of what is going on in their minds.
