Sender

The sender of the TED talk “How racial bias works – and how to disrupt it” is Jennifer L. Eberhardt. She is a social psychologist and psychology professor at Stanford University. Her research focuses on racial bias, which has to do with people’s tendency to be unconsciously prejudiced towards others based on race.

Throughout the talk, Eberhardt refers to her research several times. For example, she discusses a study she conducted on racial bias in education: 

My colleagues and I have found that teachers express a desire to discipline a black middle school student more harshly than a white student for the same repeated infraction. In a recent study, we’re finding that teachers treat black students as a group but white students as individuals. (ll. 29-32)
