Plot and Structure

When we talk about plot, we talk about the moments that make up a story, especially their causes and effects. Each moment leads to the other: in our case, the following points are present: the exposition, the rising action, the climax, the falling action and the resolution. The five  points mentioned above are connected to each other, as one is the cause and the effect of the following.

In the case of “Father Daughter”, the exposition is the moment when the reader is acquainted with Norton and Laura, who have lunch in a bistro. It continues with the rising action, which is the conversation between father and daughter. As it becomes more and more tense, the plot reaches the climax, i.e. the most powerful moment in a story.
