Intention

In this section, we will consider what Donald Trump's intention was when making his victory speech. 

Because we know that the circumstances of the speech are Donald Trump’s election victory, the intention of the speech is notably not to gather votes, which may explain some of the changes in style compared to his previous speeches. He no longer needs to direct harsh criticism towards Hillary Clinton, for example, because he knows he has already defeated her and thus he can even afford to praise her efforts at this point.
