In this section we will discuss the circumstances surrounding Donald Trump's victory speech, including relevant facts to consider about the election campaign that led to his victory. 

The speech was made shortly after midnight on the 9th of November, 2016, when it had become clear that Donald Trump had won the election and would become the 45th President of the United States. The speech is thus a victory speech, a traditional type of speech made by the winning candidate in a US election.
