Donald J. Trump's Republican nomination acceptance speech was delivered in 2016, in Cleveland, USA, at a formal event—the Republican Convention for the nomination of the presidential candidate.

Consequently, the live audience was formed of members of the Republican Party, most of which were in favor of nominating Donald Trump as a presidential candidate. However, in the audience there were also Republicans who did not want Donald Trump to run for presidency and even tried boycotting the event. This is why you can see both people with posters supporting Trump and people booing him in the video version of the speech.

The speech was televised, reaching about 35 million viewers. This implies that the general audience was the American public, whom the speaker tries to convince he is the right person to become the next US President.

Because of the United States' position as a global power, an international audience is also implied. This is suggested in the speech as well, whenever the speaker talks about foreign policy issues like: “After fifteen years of wars in the Middle East, after trillions of dollars spent and thousands of lives lost, the situation is worse than it has ever been before.” (ll. 133-135); “Start believing. It is time to show the whole world that America Is Back – bigger, and better and stronger than ever before.” (ll. 135-136)
