Structure

The short story “A Wrinkle in the Realm” by Ben Okri has a linear plot structure, as the unnamed main character tries to figure out what is it about his appearance that makes people avoid him. 

The beginning of the story introduces the problem the manis facing: 

The first time he realized that there was something not quite right about him was when a woman crossed the street as she saw him coming. He thought it was a coincidence. Then it happened again.

This shows how the man is treated by other members of society. The reader figures out that he is being unfairly shunned. Like the man, the reader also does not know why other people seem to want to avoid him.
