The speaker of the speech “We call BS” is X González, formerly known as Emma, a student at Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School, who has since become an activist and advocate for gun control. González is delivering the speech in the wake of the school shooting and calling for stricter gun control rules to prevent similar tragedies from happening. 

Throughout the speech, González highlights their young age, drawing the audience’s attention to its importance: 

Instead of worrying about our AP Gov chapter 16 test, we have to be studying our notes to make sure that our arguments based on politics and political history are watertight. The students at this school have been having debates on guns for what feels like our entire lives.
