Outer Composition

“The Hill We Climb” by Amanda Gorman has five stanzas. The length of each stanza is variable: the first stanza has 10 lines, the second 14 lines, the third 17 lines, the fourth six lines, and the fifth 14 lines. This shows that the stanzas are not supposed to follow any pattern and are divided according to the ideas they present.

The rhyming pattern also varies. Most of the poem is written in free verse, which means that there is no rhyme. However, some of the verses rhyme, and musicality is created through rhythm and repetitions, as well as through assonance and alliteration. For instance:
