Summary

The short story “The Company of Wolves” by Angela Carter begins with a description of a place threatened by the presence of wolves. The local children walk around armed with knives and know to avoid the dangerous forest. 

The narrator tells the tale of a hunter who trapped a wolf into a pit because the wolf had killed locals and their animals. As soon as the hunter killed it, the wolf turned into a man whose body had the same wounds inflicted on the wolf.
