Logos

We encounter logos in the article as the writer makes logical connections between ideas and gives arguments for his statements.

Manzoor justifies his idea that Asian culture is popular in Britain by giving examples. Monica Ali’s novel Brick Lane, the musical Bombay Dreams, and the show Bollywood Queen (p. 135, ll. 4-11) were very popular among the British at the time when the article was written.

Pathos

In Manzoor’s article, we also encounter a few examples of pathos. The writer aims to create a feeling of sympathy for his father, who had to leave his family behind and for whom Britain felt very different from Pakistan: “He left Pakistan, where his wife and young family remained, and travelled more than 6,000 kilometres to a cold, wet land full of pink strangers who spoke a different language.” (p. 135, ll. 5-9)
