Narrator and point of view

The short story “Scene from Girlhood” by Kara Lark is told by a first-person narrator who is also one of the main characters.

As the title of the story suggests, the events are told from the point of view of an adult, who remembers scenes from her teenage years. Therefore, she blends her perspective as a teenager with that of a mature adult. There are things she realizes only in retrospect. For instance:
