Conflict

The short story “Scene from Girlhood” by Kara Lark is centered around the conflict between the two main characters.

The two incidents which further the conflict between Melanie and Samantha and lead to the climax of the story mirror each other. The rattlesnake scares Samantha and the loud bang scares Melanie.
