Violence and revenge
The short film “Light My Fire” directed by Bobb Barito illustrates the theme of violence through the male characters’ behavior. The theme is also closely connected to the theme of revenge.
In the beginning, Miles is prepared to confront his daughter’s abuser, and, for this, he tries to encourage himself. The film’s title, “Light My Fire”, is directly connected to Miles’ intention of violence. He tries to use curse words to fuel his rage, as well as an energetic song he chooses while driving. This shows that violence and aggression do not come naturally to him after all. The music lights his inner “fire” and anger towards Clark. Miles thinks that, by making what he perceives is a grand gesture and physically punishing his daughter’s abuser, he would help Lucy.
