Characters

The most important characters in “I Dare You” by Eileen Merriman are Jane, as the main character, and Carrie and William, as secondary characters. Note that the narrator also mentions her mother, while Carrie mentions Jane’s brother.

The characters of the girls are relatable, as they are portrayed as typical adolescents, and they encounter several issues typical for their age.

Jane is a developing character in the story. At the beginning, she is a stereotypical teenager. By the end of the story, her life is changed dramatically, as she loses her best friend and believes that it is her fault, which leaves her traumatised.

Carrie is not a developing character. She is portrayed as a stereotypical popular teenage girl. She is confident, enjoys male attention, and wants to have fun without thinking about the potential consequences of her actions.

Throughout the story, William is portrayed as an immoral man, who steals a car and has no issue taking advantage of two very young girls.
