Jane Pauley’s interview “Hillary Clinton speaks” was broadcast on the CBS Sunday Morning news show. The medium in which the interview appeared – an American TV news show - suggests that the target audience is the American public at large who watches CBS.

CBS is a commercial American broadcast company which is considered to lean towards the political left, which is mainly represented by the Democratic Party in the US. This is further suggested in the interview by the fact that Clinton’s book was “published by Simon and Schuster, a CBS company” (l. 5). Consequently, we can assume that CBS’ main audiences share similar views and are more likely to favour the Democratic Party – and thus Hillary Clinton.
