The sender of the excerpt “Dominion Over Nature” is Robert Pack, an American poet, critic, and professor. Pack has written several books of poetry, the last of which, Laughter Before Sleep, was published in 2011.
Pack is also the author of several non-fiction books. One of his books, a collection of essays called Belief and Uncertainty in the Poetry of Robert Frost, was published in 2003. The excerpt in Wider Contexts is taken from the first chapter of this collection of essays and focuses on how mankind relates to nature.
