Summary

“Crusader Rabbit” by Jess Mowry starts with Raglan and Jeremy, who are picking cans from dumpsters to take them to recycling centers for money. Jeremy, who is 13 years old, says Raglan could be his father. Raglan agrees, looks at Jeremy, and offers the boy a smoke. As they get in Raglan’s car, Jeremy prepares a kit to inject himself with some drugs. Raglan helps him. He also tells Raglan that he knows this is not his real name and asks why the man picked this nickname. Raglan tells him this is what his father used to call him, based on a character from the cartoon ‘Crusader Rabbit’. In the cartoon, Raglan is a tiger who is friends with the rabbit.
