Background information

Bill Clinton’s “I Have Sinned” speech is delivered at the height of the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. The political scandal emerged in 1998 when it was discovered that President Bill Clinton had engaged in a sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky, a 22-year-old White House intern. At the beginning of the year 1998, Clinton publicly denied having had an affair with Lewinsky. Later investigation showed that Clinton lied, which led to him being accused of perjury and impeached.
