Physical setting

Nimer Rashed’s short film “Baghdad Express” is meant to be contemporary to the time when it was filmed. This is suggested by the characters’ clothes and details such as Maya’s iPod (00:59). 

The characters’ British accents suggest that the story takes place in the UK. The events unfold in several locations. The most important locations are the Baghdad Express restaurant, which reflects Maya’s life by her father’s side, and the fashion school, which represents the life Maya aspires to.
